Tangerine Drinks

I'm Getting a Tan-gerine

The name of our nail polish this week is “I’m Getting a Tan-gerine.” In honour of the warm summer days that we have been experiencing and will be experiencing, we are going to share with you some tangerine themed cool summer drinks that we found.

It’s always nice to have a nice and refreshing drinks for everyone to have at a summer backyard party or BBQ so check out these two non-alcoholic drinks with tangerine juice that we found.

 Cranberry-Tangerine Fizzy

You will need:

For the cranberry simple syrup:

1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries

1 cup water

1 1/2 cups sugar

Splash of vanilla extract

For the Cranberry Tangerine Fizzy:

1 tangerine, quartered

2-3 tablespoons cranberry simple syrup, or to taste

Ice

Seltzer (Cranberry Lime Seltzer is good, but plain is fine)

Cranberries for garnish

Instructions:

Cranberry simple syrup:

In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, water, sugar, and vanilla extract. Give it a quick stir and bring to a boil over medium/high heat (watch it or it will boil over). Reduce the heat to medium and cook until the cranberries burst (youâ??ll hear them. Itâ??s so cool), soften, and wrinkle a bit. Remove from heat and allow it to come to room temperature (cranberries and all). Strain the cranberries, pressing down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the cranberries or save for cheesecake topping. Pour into a glass container with a tight-fitting lid.

Makes about 2 cups of simple syrup.

For the Cranberry Tangerine Fizzy:

To an 8 ounce glass, add the quartered tangerines and cranberry simple syrup. Muddle with a muddler or back of a wooden spoon until the tangerine slices are very fragrant and release their liquid. Add ice over the tangerine/simple syrup mixture and top with seltzer. Give it a quick stir and garnish with cranberries, if desired.

Tangerine Rosemary Mocktail

You will need:
1/4 cup fresh squeezed tangerine juice
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon rosemary simple syrup (recipe below)
2 tablespoons lemon-lime soda
club soda
ice

Fill glass with ice. Add in juices, simple syrup, and lemon-lime soda. Top off with club soda. Garnish with tangerine slice and sprig of rosemary. Stir before drinking. (If you prefer your drinks a little less sweet, just leave out the lemon-lime soda).

Rosemary Simple Syrup:
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 sprigs of rosemary

Combine water, sugar and rosemary in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let sit for about 10 minutes. Strain out rosemary and let cool completely. Store syrup in a lidded jar or bottle in the refrigerator.
