Valentine's Crafts

For the next few blog posts we are focusing on Valentine’s day; that is sorta tied in to our wedding theme.

We have a couple of really easy and cute craft ideas that we want to share with you this week.

Remember when you were in elementary school and Valentine’s Day came around and you had to make “mailboxes” for all the little Valentine’s that you were going to get? Well we are going to guide you in making some of those for all of the Valentine’s that you are going to get, or they can be a cute decoration in your house around Valentine’s day.

All you need are some brown paper bags, ribbon, stamps, punches, glue, felts, and scissors and of course creativity. There are no rules in making these. Just go for it. We have chosen to make mailboxes that have lots of hearts on them and that use the red, pink and white colour scheme of Valentine’s Day but feel free to do whatever you want.  Nicole made a very cute and girly one by cutting out a heart at the top of the bag and then she used pink punched hearts for a heart outline. At the bottom she used a very sparkly and pink ribbon and adorned it with purple hearts; see, I told you it was very girly.

The second one that Nicole made was bright and fun and very red. She picked out a red polka dotted sparkly ribbon and spaced them out on the bag. Then she used shades of red punched hearts and star bursts in between the strips of ribbon. Very fun!

I came up with next Valentine craft idea. I thought it would be sweet to have a jar of hearts for your sweetie or for the ones that you love. I found a small mason jar and then I punched out a bunch of different coloured hearts and then I wrote little love notes/sayings on them. So just put the jar on the counter and fill it up and then have your loved ones pull out hearts every once in a while when they are feeling low, tired, bored etc. and you’re sure to see the smiles on everyone’s faces.
