Oscar Dress Inspired Card

Happy Friday!

I had a super fun Sunday night watching the Oscars and predicting the winners. I’m such a movie geek, haha.

Anyways, there were lots of Oscar fashions that stood out to me as I watched. A lot of the men looked very sharp in their tuxes; most of them went with dark blue tuxes with accents of black, very nice. Many of the women went with neutral colours this year. Some went with black and/or white, some went with a blush colour, and some went with almost a skin toned colour. Both Nicole and I favourite the same dress and that was worn by...Rosamund Pike who was nominated for GONE GIRL. She wore a very red lacy dress with red strappy high heeled shoes and some very dainty simple silver earrings. She looked so elegant yet simple; she didn’t overdo things.

We loved Rosamund’s Oscar look so much that we decided to make a card this week that was inspired by her dress. We tried out a different technique to add texture, we did some neat border punching, and worked with some different shapes and colours to make this card, and we have decided to share a how to tutorial with you this week.

Enjoy our Oscar dress card and hopefully you’ll be inspired by your favourite Osar look to create some fun and unique crafts!

Rosamund Pike 2015 Red Lace Oscar Dress Card

To create this card you will need:

White, red, and neon red cardstock
Thick red ribbon
Red ink and clear embossing powder
Silver ink and embossing powder
Papercutter/Scissors
Lace looking stamp
Word stamp
Border punch
Heat gun

Step One:

Cut a red cardstock into a 6 ¾ x 4 ¾ inch card.

Step Two:

Punch the border design along the bottom of the red card.

Step Three:

Stamp the lace design onto the front of the red card and heat with the heating gun. It’s best to flatten your card under some heavy books after you’ve heated it so that it flattens out.

Step Four:

While the card is flattening cut two triangles (2 ¾ x 4 inches) in the neon red colour along with a 2 1/ x 1 ½ inch red rectangle.

Step Five:

Stamp the red rectangle with some sort of wording. We choose “inspire” and stamped it in silver ink and then embossed it and heated.

Step Six:

Glue the neon red triangles on the red card along with the red strip of ribbon and the “inspire” layer.

And here you have it...an Oscar dress inspired card.
