It’s Friday
and today we are going to do a tutorial! We have been basically making cards
for our Etsy store and to sell online, but I think it would be a good idea to
branch out and try something new. Gift/goody bags are quite simple to make and
very popular buys for people who are giving gifts and/or throwing a party. We
made some simple fun goody bags a while back for my birthday party and I
thought today I’d try out a few ideas that we could maybe sell online one day.
Here is a
picture of the originals.
I’m going to
use a plain brown paper lunch bag. You can buy these anywhere; I bought mine at
the grocery store in a pack of 50. You could also use a white bag like we did
for the originals (these are the same size as the brown paper bags and I got
them at Michaels), a plain gift bag with handles, or any other plain paper bags
that you can find.
Pick out a
style and a color scheme. I am going to do two bags. One a more fun one and
another like the original, cute and sweet.
Gather your supplies for the “Fun Bag”
(I chose a blue theme):
One brown
paper bag
Strip of
light blue cardstock about ½ inch wide
Two ribbon
about ¼ inch wide in a lighter color (I went with dark blue)
White
cardstock 2x2 inch
Dark blue cardstock 3x3 inch
Dark blue
ink
A stamp (I
chose “Just for You”)
Three dark
blue 1 inch circles and a light blue punched star
Scissors
with a fun edge
Cut the top
of the bag.
Glue on the light
blue strip and then the two dark blue ribbons on either side.
Cut the dark
blue cardstock around the outside with the fun edged scissors. Stamp “Just
for You” on the white cardstock and then after heating, glue that layer onto
the dark blue layer of cardstock. Glue this on top of the ribbon.
Glue the
dark blue circles in a row near the top of the bag and then the single star in
the center circle.
Now gather your supplies for the “Cute
Bag” (For this one I’ve chosen a purple theme):
One brown
paper bag
One ribbon
about 1/2 inch wide (I picked dark purple with polka dots)
Two ribbon
about ¼ inch wide in a lighter color (I went with lilac)
White
cardstock 2x1 1/2 inch
Light purple
cardstock 3x2 1/4 inch
Black ink
A stamp (I
went with “Friend” for this one)
Lilac bow
Scissors
with fun edges
Cut the top
of the bag.
Glue on the
wide ribbon and then the two lilac ribbon on either side.
Cut the
purple cardstock around the outside with the fun edged scissors. Stamp “Friends”
on the white cardstock and then after heating, glue that layer onto the purple
layer of cardstock. Glue this on top of the ribbon.
Hot glue gun
your bow near the top of the bag.
