BBQs

“We are all here for a spell; get all the good barbeque you can.” – Will Rogers

BBQs are the epitome of summer. Summer just doesn’t go by without having at least one BBQ. The taste is fantastic plus you can cook and keep yourself and the house cool.

I’m no BBQing pro, but I have found a few cool ones while browsing online that look perfect for grilling on this summer.

Now we have some recipes that would be delicious to make for your BBQ parties this summer.
Enjoy!

I’ve never tried it, but I’ve heard that grilled fruit desserts are a delightful treat. Here is a very yummy sounding recipe that I’m going to try from Chatelaine magazine.

Grilled Peach Melba

You will need:

2 firm ripe peaches halved and pitted
1 tbsp. honey
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
4 scoops of vanilla frozen yogurt or ice cream
4 biscuits of your choice crumbled
Raspberries

Preheat your BBQ to medium.

Oil the grill. Brush cut sides of peaches with honey. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Barbecue peach halves, cut-side down, rotating often, until grill marks form, 2-3 min. Transfer to 4 dessert dishes. Top with scoop of ice cream/frozen yogurt, crumbled biscuits, and raspberries.

BBQ Beef Kabobs

We tried this kabob recipe a few summers ago; my dad basically made it up as he went along. They were fun to make and quite tasty too.

You will need:

Light soy sauce
Garlic, minced
Seasoning salt
Beef (sirloin steak)
Red and green peppers
Mushrooms
Red Onion
Zucchini

Place the cut up beef (in cubes) along with the chopped veggies in a bowl and marinate with light soy, garlic, and seasoning salt. We didn't really measure we just made sure everything was coated with soy sauce and then added as much seasoning as we saw fit. Let this sit in the fridge for a couple of hours.

Put the marinated beef and veggies on the skewer (beef then veggie) leaving an inch on both ends. Oil the grill and then when heated, place the skewers on for about 10 minutes. Serve with a green salad and enjoy.

Homemade BBQ Sauce

You will need:

1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 - 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. (or to taste) hickory or mesquite smoke
1/4 - 1/2 tsp. honey

Mix all ingredients together.
Use on your favourite grilling foods and barbecue away!
