Homemade Halloween Candy


I’m gonna keep it quite sweet and simple this week. This post is all about homemade Halloween candy. Today we’re sharing with you some of the yummiest Halloween treats that you can make yourself at home. We are making our own versions of the Nestle Crunch Bar, The Three Musketeers Bar, and caramel apples. So here we go...

Nestle Crunch Bar


This one is very easy to make. First of all you’re going to want to line a Pyrex 9x13 dish with parchment paper. Then in a heat proof bowl or measuring cup melt down 3 cups of milk chocolate chips. Stir in 2 cups of Rice Crispies and then spread in the pan. Put into the freezer for 30 minutes and then break or cut into bite size pieces.
 





The Musketeers Bar

Ok, so taste wise ours turned out delicious, but look wise it wasn’t so good. We’ll have to perfect this and figure out a way to make it look better.


You will need to start off by lining a loaf pan with tin foil and butter.


Then in a heat proof bowl or measuring bowl, melt down 1 cup of milk chocolate chips.


Melt one jar of marshmallow fluff in a bowl. Add one of the cup of milk chocolate into the marshmallow fluff and mix well. 



Pour this mixture into the loaf pan and freeze for 30 minutes.



Cut the frozen marshmallow mixture into small bars. I think next time I would cut them into bite size pieces and then refreeze for 15 minutes. Having the bars too big is one of the problems that we had and letting them warm up also was most likely a contributing problem to why ours didn’t look so good.

Next you’re going to melt down 2 more cups of milk chocolate chips. Take the cut bars or bites and dip into the melted chocolate. Here is another thing we found. The warm chocolate melts down the marshmallow bars so that’s why we chose to freeze them again and if the chocolate isn’t melted enough then it’s hard to dip, so you have to work fast and make sure that the chocolate is a good consistency. Place the dipped bars onto a parchment lined baking sheet and then place in the freezer for 30 minutes.We were so distracted with these last steps because they were causing a bit of frustration so we forgot to take pictures, sorry! We do have the finished product of both our treats below for you though.

DIY Blue Birthday Card



Before we begin our lead up to Christmas (yes, it’s only 2 months away!) we are going to do a couple of “holiday” posts. Today we are going to do a DIY birthday card post and next week some sweet homemade Halloween treats.

The theme of this birthday card is BLUE! We are going to make a very blue birthday card.

You can of course make this card with a different colour scheme so feel free to do that. We have chosen four shades of blue, so you’ll want to pick out four different shades of whatever colour you’re working with. As you can see below, we went with some light and dark shades.

First of all you are going to want to cut the paper you need...we’ve cut our card to the usual 6 ¾ x 4 ¾ inches that we make. 

Then we had a darker blue 3 x 6 ¾ inch layer for the bottom part of the card, a 2 ½ inch lighter blue square, a 2 ¼ inch pale blue square, roughly a 1 x ¼ inch pale blue strip for the present boarder, and a 6 x 4 inch layer of the pale blue paper for the inside. 

You will also need a square Happy Birthday stamp, dark blue ink, dark blue ribbon, glue tape, embossing powder, heat gun, and scissors. 


First of all, stamp Happy Birthday on the pale blue square, emboss, and heat. Once it’s heated, put under a heavy object to flatten out.



Next you can use your present boarder punch to punch out a top boarder on the pale blue strip.



Now you can glue the bottom dark blue layer onto the card and then you can glue the ribbon to separate the two layers.



Glue the present boarder near the bottom of the card and then glue the square layers together and then place in the center of the card.




Finally glue the inside layer in. If you want to you can glue in a simple heart, balloon, star etc. punch.
