“Should old
acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.”
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.”
This is the last post of the year. We are going with the New Year’s
theme this week. None of the lines of the song of the week really inspired this
post but we came up with a fun craft idea for the New Year. We are going to
show you how you can make a homemade fridge calendar with just some simple
crafting supplies. We’ve picked a couple of months and pulled out some punches
and stamps and came up with some creations for you.
We started off by getting out some white cardstock, you can use any
colour you choose though. Then Nicole came up with some layouts for the months.
She picked a font and then laid out her page in Publisher. For May, we did the traditional
calendar layout with the squares and days/dates and then for February, we did
a simpler looking design with the days/dates. Here are some online templates that
you can check out. https://www.printable2017calendars.com/ (You'll probably want to download the Microsoft Word version, so you can resize the calendar to give you blank space to decorate!)
Nicole utilised punches for her month. We also decided to make the
holiday in February the highlight. Look at the cute added touch on the 14th!
Even though there is a holiday in May, we decided to make it more
springy and cheerful themed, so we went with some bright and colourful
inspirational words to keep you positive and happy
Take a look at what we came up with.
These are just a few ideas. You can have a special theme or design or
colour throughout your own calendar to make it match or you can do a miscellaneous
calendar with random things throughout. And you don’t have to stick with plain
white paper, you can go with whatever you want. Then at the end when you have
all of the months completed, you can attach rings or coil to the top and put it
together that way or what we had in mind, which is easier, is you can stick
each month to the fridge or cork board or even put it in a page protector with
all of the months and put each month up as it happens.
Happy New Year!
