Recollections Embossing Heat Tool Product Review

Happy Friday fellow crafters!

Last week a brand new Michaels craft store opened up in town. Actually, the old Michaels moved to a newer bigger location, so it’s like having a brand new store opening.

We went to check it out on opening day and had a blast. It was so cool to go through each and every section looking at all the goodies. I was overwhelmed at times, but it was so much fun, haha. We had a mission to look for new storage for our paper and we found that. We also were looking to buy our very own heating tool to emboss our work with. For the past few years we had borrowed Nicole’s mom’s heating tool, but we felt that it was time to invest in our own. After comparing two different brands, we decided upon the Recollections Embossing Heat Tool.

Over the weekend, I was working on some birthday cards and tried out the new tool and here’s what I have to say about it. First of all, I love that it heated up quickly but it wasn’t unusually hot. Our old one took a while to heat up and it got quite hot at times. There was a burning smell at first, but the directions said that was normal due to it being new. I like the thick cord and the metal stand so that it doesn’t touch the table directly when it is hot. I also like that it was slightly smaller and thicker so that it is easier to grip. It heated the embossing powder quickly and the finished product looked perfect! Oh, it was quite quiet as well, so Nicole and I don't have to yell at each other when I'm embossing now. Overall, this is an awesome buy for us and I think it will last a long time, and I would definitely recommend this tool to anyone who is into paper crafting. Here's a little look at our new purchase.

Spring and Easter Cards

“Spring is nature’s way of saying, Let’s Party!” – Robin Williams

Happy Spring everybody! Today is the first official day of spring and we thought that we would share with you all some of the Easter cards that we have created for this Spring.

For the past few years since we have had our business, we haven’t made any Easter cards. However, the lady at the store, where we are lucky enough to have some of our Paperwhite Creations cards, suggested that we make a few for her window display and gift baskets! So that’s just exactly what Nicole and I did, we designed and created 10 Easter cards this week to take in to the store to sell for Easter time. We made a couple of sizes of cards and tried out different colours and a few new layouts. We also utilized Nicole’s Silhouette, which is so cool to use! I think we’ll do a review/tutorial featuring the Silhouette one day soon because it is a really neat device to have when making cards.

Enjoy the pictures of our newest creations, maybe they’ll inspire you to make something crafty this Easter.
